BUm Hug gel pad Prototype

The ergo "BUMHUG" gel is our premium offering for long distance riding, although we still offer the standard flat gel pads that can be added to any seat without altering the look of the seat.
Our "BUMHUG" gel Inserts are designed to make riders more comfortable on long rides. The area in the back of the pad is cutaway to releive pressure on the tailbone which is a common area for discomfort. I recently broke my tailbone and sitting on a solid pad just does not allow me to be comfortable. Commonly gel pads are inserted into the foam and then covered with another layer of thin foam. Through my research I have found that a gel pad works best when its shaped similarly to the sit bones to cup your bum rather than sit it on top of a flat or round surface. We also add more gel into the other crevices of your posterior to support more square inches of your body than a typical design. The more you spread out the weight the less pressure you will be applying to your sit bones. If you take for instance a wooden chair that is shaped with some ergonomic properties rather than a park bench which is not, you will get the picture. With my design the gel pad is sewn in to the seat cover directly underneath the leather or vinyl to give you the most benefit of our unique design. Though I would recommend getting leather covering to allow for better breathability to Keep your skin from getting too wet which leads to something called mastication. Your skin needs oxygen to be healthy and the reduction of blood flow in that area reduces the amount of nutrients that you would get in that area normally. Though we wouldn’t say that our gel pad is the cure all for sore butts everywhere we do think that it will work better than other gel pads out there.
